OneWorld publicly launched the new “711” telephone number in California, which allows deaf and hearing callers to communicate through a Relay operator.

OneWorld created a widely covered media event involving the Mayor of San Francisco and Marlee Matlin, famous deaf actress, as well as an advertising campaign of interactive web banners, TV spots, newspaper ads, and outdoor advertising. 711 calls increased from zero to 50,000 in the first month alone.
